ScreenPeace 2008 Student Film/Video Contest
GUIDELINES
Who is eligible?
Anyone enrolled in any Greater Miami Valley school between September 2007 and August 2008 may enter. Home-schooled students are also eligible. The final project may be a collaboration of several students or created by a single individual. An entrant’s grade level is that which he/she has completed during the 2007-08 school year. Home-schooled students are entered into age-equivalent grade category.
What film format is accepted?
All entries must be submitted in standard DVD format; no other format will be accepted. The DVD should be of superior audio and video quality. All subject matter must be suitable for a general family audience. Only one (01) entry per DVD. Each entry must be on a single DVD with a separate entry form, entry fee, and envelope. DVDs will not be returned and become the property of the Dayton International Peace Museum.
How long can a film be?
Entries MUST adhere to the following MAXIMUM time limits
(including titles and credits):
College student productions not longer than 20 minutes
High School student productions not longer than 15 minutes
Elementary/Middle School student productions not longer than 10 minutes
When is the DEADLINE?
- All entries must be original productions created between September 01, 2007 and August 30, 2008. All entries must be received at the Peace Museum by 5:00pm, August 30, 2008.
How should film be submitted?
- Each DVD must be clearly labeled and include a securely attached and signed Entry Form.
- Students under 18 years of age MUST also have the signature of a parent or legal guardian granting permission to enter the film.
- Each DVD must include a $5.00 entry fee (check or money order) to Dayton International Peace Museum.
Failure to submit all required forms disqualifies the film
and the entrant becomes ineligible for all awards. |
Where should it be submitted?
One entry per envelope should be mailed or delivered to:

for DVDs damaged or lost in transit to the Peace Museum. |
What happens when a film/video wins?
- Winning filmmakers will be contacted by phone no later than Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
- Winning entries grant the Dayton International Peace Museum unlimited and free use of the film. This agreement includes public screenings, compilation DVDs, streaming on-line and other marketing options.
- Winning filmmakers will then have one week to submit:
- Talent/Model Releases for all individuals appearing in the film
- Legal Release for Dayton International Peace Museum ownership and use
These release forms are available on this website.
- Three awards -Gold, Silver, and Bronze - will be awarded for each of the following age categories:
College Level (or other post high school institution)
High School Level (grades 9-12)
Elementary Level (grades K-8)
- Each winning filmmaker will receive an individual award along with a plaque presented to each winner’s school. At discretion of the ScreenPeace Contest Committee, an additional Jury Prize may also be awarded.
Winning entries in each category will be publicly screened at Little Art Theatre and Neon Movies as the final event in this year’s ScreenPeace film festival on November 9, 2008.
All submitted films become the property of the Dayton International Peace Museum. |
